McCracken Co., Ky (May 27, 2025) – A section of U.S. Highway 60 was closed for roughly eight hours on Sunday, May 25, after a serious crash involving a gasoline tanker and two other vehicles, according to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office.
The collision occurred just before 9 a.m. and involved a semi-truck hauling gasoline and two passenger cars. All vehicles veered off the road, coming to rest beyond the shoulder. The tanker began leaking fuel, prompting an immediate emergency response.
The highway was shut down between New Liberty Church Road and Hobbs Road as crews worked to contain and address the spill. Members of the West McCracken Fire Department secured the leak in the tanker, and the Environmental Protection Agency responded to manage and clean up the hazardous material spill.
The semi-truck driver was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening. Police continue to investigate the details of the wreck to determine its cause.
We hope for the full recovery of the injured victims.
