Scott Co., KY (May 30, 2025) – Authorities have released the identity of the man who died in a three-vehicle collision in Scott County.
The Scott County Coroner identified the victim as 48-year-old Jason Kintae Jones of Frankfort. The crash occurred Thursday evening, May 29, along the westbound lanes of Interstate 64 near mile marker 69.
The incident prompted the temporary closure of all westbound traffic lanes, though the interstate has since reopened. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
We want to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim.
Each year, Kentucky sees more than 125,000 traffic collisions, with many of them leading to serious injuries or even tragic loss of life. Horse Cave, like many communities across the Bluegrass State, is not immune to the devastating effects of auto accidents. Sadly, most of these incidents are preventable, often stemming from reckless or careless driving behaviors.
Across the U.S., distracted and impaired driving are among the leading causes of deadly crashes. In one recent year alone, intoxicated drivers were responsible for over 30% of all traffic fatalities nationwide. Alarmingly, over 93% of all crashes can be traced back to human error or negligence. In Kentucky, driver distraction has become the top contributor to the state’s high crash rate.
Victims of severe accidents may face prolonged hospital stays, long-term medical care, loss of income, and emotional trauma. When a loved one is taken too soon due to a fatal collision, the pain is immeasurable, and the financial burdens can feel impossible to bear.
