Marion Co., KY (June 9, 2025) — A 26-year-old man is facing charges following a fatal two-vehicle crash that occurred Saturday morning in Marion County, according to the Kentucky State Police.
The collision happened on June 7, just before 10 a.m., at the intersection of U.S. Highway 68 and the Lebanon Bypass. Investigators say Justin Baron, 26, was behind the wheel of a 2002 Dodge Ram traveling west on US 68 when he attempted to make a high-speed right turn. He lost control, veered through the intersection, and slammed into a 2010 GMC Sierra that was stopped at a red light.
The GMC was being driven by 55-year-old William Norris of Loretto, who was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 82-year-old Shirley Norris, was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
Baron sustained minor injuries and was treated at a hospital before being taken into custody by the Marion County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say his arrest stemmed from an unrelated incident that occurred before the crash. Additional charges specifically related to the crash may be expected to be filed by the Kentucky State Police.
We extend our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim. We also hope the injured individuals recover rapidly
Kentucky Car Accidents
Every day, car accidents disrupt lives across Louisville, often with life-changing consequences. From Dixie Highway to I-264, collisions caused by reckless or negligent driving are a constant threat. Across Kentucky, thousands of crashes are reported annually, many resulting in serious injuries or fatalities. Nationally, more than 40,000 people lose their lives in auto accidents each year, with distracted driving, intoxication, and speeding among the most common—and preventable—causes.
Here in Louisville, the dangers reflect those national patterns. Whether it's a distracted driver checking their phone, a speeding motorist weaving through traffic, or someone getting behind the wheel after drinking, these choices can lead to tragedy in an instant.
