Louisville, KY - Police Cruiser Crash with Injuries at 2nd St & W Market St

Louisville, KY (December 5, 2025) - An on-duty Louisville Metro Police (LMPD) officer and another driver suffered injuries after a crash on Friday, December 5, in downtown Louisville. LMPD said the collision happened around 3:19 a.m. at the intersection of 2nd Street and West Market Street.

Police spokesman Aaron Ellis reported that the officer was inside a marked LMPD cruiser with lights and sirens activated. The officer was on the way to help another unit with a break-in in progress. As the cruiser entered the intersection, another passenger vehicle struck it. The impact damaged both vehicles and also knocked them into a nearby utility pole.

Emergency medical teams arrived quickly and treated both people at the scene. EMS then transported the officer and the other driver to University Hospital. Officials said both victims remained alert and conscious, and neither injury appeared life-threatening.
