Kentucky Auto Collisions

Auto accidents have become a significant issue throughout the nation in terms of societal effects, personal impact, and economic costs. More than 6 million auto accidents happen yearly in the United States, leading to widespread injuries, fatalities, and property damage. In 2022, over 42,000 people lost their lives in traffic collisions. Additionally, over 2 million people are hurt in crashes per year. In terms of monetary impact, over 340 billion dollars are spent annually on auto accidents in the US.

The state of Kentucky sees over 350 car accidents per day and approximately 125,000 per year. Sadly, tens of thousands of people are hurt in these wrecks while hundreds lose their lives. The vast majority of reported traffic collisions in the US are caused by negligent driving, specifically distraction, intoxication, speeding, and fatigue. Some statistics concerning negligently caused collisions in the United States include:

  • Roughly ¼ of all reported accidents are caused by distracted driving.
  • Speeding contributes to almost 30% of all traffic accident fatalities.
  • Impaired driving is behind approximately 30% of all deaths related to car wrecks.
  • Driver fatigue is behind approximately 2% of all fatal crashes.
