Cadiz, KY (December 9, 2024) – Two people lost their lives, and seven others were hurt in a collision on Sunday, December 8, in Cadiz. The incident occurred just before 11:00 a.m. on US Highway 68 at Interstate 24. The Trigg County Sheriff’s Office reports that an SUV was exiting I-24 West onto US-68 when it struck another SUV traveling on US-68. Reports show two individuals inside the exiting SUV were pronounced deceased at the scene, while a third person was transported to an area hospital with injuries. The Second SUV was occupied by six people who were all taken to hospitals. Two were airlifted to a hospital in Nashville. The two people who lost their lives were identified as Kreg Bernell Redd, 54, of West Frankfort, Illinois, and David J. McCabe, 67, of Carbondale, Illinois. The collision closed all lanes of US 68 at the exit ramp for I-24 West for an extended period, causing significant traffic delays. Multiple emergency crews were seen working at the wreck site, including Trigg County Rescue, Trigg County EMS, Montgomery Fire Department, Cadiz Fire Department, and Kentucky State Police.
