Kentucky Car Crashes
Car crashes happen all the time in Kentucky and throughout the US. In the Bluegrass State, tens of thousands of people suffer injuries per year in auto collisions and hundreds lose their lives. These wrecks occur for several reasons, including vehicle malfunctions, bad weather, and driver negligence. However, driver negligence causes more crashes than car problems and inclement weather combined. According to information provided by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association, more than 94% of reported car crashes happen because of negligence.
In Kentucky, on average, over 100,000 car crashes happen per year. Across the United States, around 6 million car crashes are reported annually that cause injuries to around 3 million people and take the lives of about 40,000. Per day, approximately 17,000 car crashes happen throughout the country which injures around 7,500 people. About 2% of these wrecks happen in Kentucky.
In the past decade, driver negligence has risen to the top of the list of reasons why the majority of American car accidents occur. Car accidents have also become one of the top causes of American injuries and fatalities. Individuals aged 15-20 most often lose their lives due to car crashes in the United States. Drives who are fatigued, intoxicated, distracted, and traveling at unsafe speeds cause accidents that often end in injuries and fatalities. Suffering injuries in a car wreck is no joke and can completely alter the lives of victims. Crash victims usually end up stuck in the hospital where they must endure medical care that is overwhelming, expensive, and exhausting. The average cost of recovering from a serious car crash injury ranges in the tens of thousands of dollars.
