Kentucky Motorcycle Accidents
Approximately 150,000 auto accidents happen in Kentucky every year. About 25,000 people suffer injuries in these wrecks, while 700 lose their lives. On average, approximately 1,500 of these collisions involve motorcyclists, which is around 1% of yearly statewide accidents.
Unfortunately, most of the auto accidents reported in Kentucky and throughout the United States are caused by negligent drivers. Negligent driving has become a serious issue in the United States, especially in the last decade. Negligent drivers engage in numerous dangerous behaviors, including but not limited to:
- Intoxication
- Distraction
- Fatigue
- Speeding
Motorcycle accidents remain a serious problem in the US and throughout Kentucky. In 2022, approximately 6,400 fatal motorcycle accidents happened in the US. This is approximately 400 more fatalities than in 2021. In the last ten years, motorcycle crash injuries have averaged approximately 80,000 per year. This is equal to over 200 injuries per day. In Kentucky, over 1,500 motorcycle accidents were reported in 2022, resulting in 99 deaths. Approximately 70% of reported motorcycle crashes in the Bluegrass state end in injuries or death for at least one rider or passenger. Unfortunately, most of these crashes are caused by driver negligence.
