Louisville, KY (November 15, 2024) – A man was sent to the hospital with serious injuries after three dump trucks collided with two other vehicles in the southbound lanes of Interstate 65 on Tuesday morning. Information provided by LMPD shows that officers were transported to Interstate 65 near University Boulevard after 5:30 a.m. concerning the incident. Preliminary reports show that two passenger vehicles were involved in a wreck near that location that left the scene without waiting for authorities to arrive. One fled on foot while another was picked up by another vehicle that continued south. Whether or not either of those drivers suffered injuries remains unknown. Shortly thereafter, three dump trucks encountered the scene with no time to react, causing the chain-reaction collision. One of the drivers had to be extricated from his vehicle, according to reports. He was taken to University Hospital with serious injuries and rushed into surgery. The other two drivers were expected to be okay after being cleared by EMS.

We hope for the full recovery of the injured victim.

Kentucky Truck Accidents

Kentucky car accidents happen every single day. On average, the state sees approximately 150,000 traffic collisions per year. Approximately 25,000 of these end in injuries, and over 700 end in fatalities. Unfortunately, most of these crashes are preventable and caused by the negligent actions of drivers.

When semi-trucks become involved in traffic accidents, those involved almost always sustain severe injuries. Due to the extreme size and weight of tractor-trailers, the damage done by accidents of this nature is often astronomical. Unfortunately, truck drivers are usually operating their vehicles while over-tired, distracted, or under the influence of drugs.

Driver negligence has become the main cause of the majority of car accidents in the United States and throughout the state of Kentucky. Each year, more than 90% of reported car accidents in the United States are caused by negligent driving. Drivers who choose to operate their vehicles while distracted, intoxicated, exhausted, or at unsafe speeds put their own lives at risk and the lives of everyone on the road at risk.
