Louisville, KY (August 11, 2025) — A fatal three-vehicle collision on Dixie Highway resulted in one man’s death and left a woman hospitalized.

Louisville Metro Police responded to reports of the crash around 12:25 p.m. on Saturday, August 9, in the 13100 block of Dixie Highway.

According to witness statements, a woman driving southbound crossed into oncoming northbound traffic and collided with a vehicle traveling in that direction. The force of the impact caused her car to subsequently strike a pickup truck also heading northbound.

EMS transported both the female driver and the driver of the first struck vehicle to UofL Hospital. While the woman is expected to recover, the man was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the pickup truck declined medical treatment at the scene.

The incident led to temporary closures on both sides of Dixie Highway for cleanup and investigation, but traffic has since resumed. The LMPD Traffic Unit continues to conduct an active investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the deceased victim's family. We also hope those hurt recover swiftly.

Kentucky Car Accidents

Across Kentucky, fatal car accidents continue to pose a significant threat to motorists on highways and rural roads alike. Whether traveling along busy corridors like I-75 near Lexington or navigating quieter two-lane roads, these crashes often result in tragic losses that ripple through families and communities.

When fatal collisions occur, the consequences extend far beyond the immediate impact. Loved ones are left coping with devastating grief, while survivors may face lifelong emotional and financial hardships. Many fatal crashes stem from preventable causes such as speeding, distracted driving, impaired operation, and reckless behavior.

The aftermath of a fatal car accident often brings overwhelming medical bills, funeral expenses, and lost income, placing additional strain on grieving families. Kentucky law provides avenues for holding negligent drivers—and, in some cases, responsible parties like employers or vehicle owners—accountable for their actions.
