Caldwell County, KY (September 26, 2025) – Two people tragically lost their lives on Thursday night, September 25, after a motorcycle and semi-truck collided on Interstate 69 northbound near the 75-mile marker, just northeast of Eddyville.
Kentucky State Police reported the crash occurred around 8:20 p.m. Investigators said the motorcycle experienced an equipment failure while traveling northbound. A semi-truck hauling a trailer, which was directly behind the motorcycle, struck the bike.
Both victims, identified as 55-year-old Michael McAlister and 57-year-old Laura McAlister of Princeton, were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck, Gregory Standard of Louisville, was not injured.
Authorities confirmed the investigation into the fatal crash is ongoing.
We extend our deepest sympathies to the McAlister family and their loved ones during this challenging time.
Motorcycle crashes in Kentucky often result in severe or fatal injuries because riders have little protection in collisions with larger vehicles. When a motorcycle collides with a semi-truck, the outcome is often devastating.
Motorcycle and truck accidents share common causes, including:
Because these accidents frequently result in catastrophic injuries or death, families may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Compensation may include funeral expenses, loss of income, medical costs before death, and damages for pain and suffering. A wrongful death lawyer can help families seek justice and accountability after such devastating crashes.
Kentucky law allows families of fatal crash victims to pursue damages when negligence contributes to an accident. Working with a lawyer ensures families understand their rights under state law and meet important filing deadlines. Wrongful death claims not only provide financial relief but also hold negligent drivers or companies accountable.
