Boone County, KY (November 18, 2025) – A tragic crash on Sunday, November 16, took the life of a 75-year-old man from Covington along U.S. Highway 42 in Boone County. The deadly collision involved two dump trucks and the victim’s pickup truck.

According to Boone County deputies, the man drove north on U.S. 42 and slowed to a stop for reasons still under investigation. A fully loaded dump truck approached from behind and could not stop in time. The truck slammed into the back of the pickup, forcing the smaller vehicle into the path of another dump truck traveling in the opposite direction.

Deputies reported that the victim died at the scene due to the severity of the impact. Officials later identified him as a long-time roofer and local business owner from Covington. Emergency crews secured the area while investigators reviewed dash camera footage recorded from both dump trucks.

Deputies believe the rear dump truck driver tried to brake but simply did not have enough time or distance to avoid the collision. Investigators continue to analyze evidence to determine what factors may have contributed to the deadly sequence of events.

We extend our deepest sympathies to the victim’s family and friends.

Truck Accidents in KentuckyMan Killed in Crash Involving Two Dump Trucks on U.S. 42

Truck collisions in Kentucky can cause devastating injuries, especially when large commercial vehicles strike smaller passenger trucks or cars. Heavy dump trucks require long stopping distances, and even a moment of delay can lead to catastrophic outcomes. This tragic crash in Boone County highlights the dangers Kentuckians face when commercial trucks travel along busy two-lane highways.

Truck accidents can lead to many severe injuries or fatal outcomes, including:

  • Traumatic brain injuries
  • Life-threatening internal injuries
  • Spinal cord damage
  • Multiple fractures
  • Crushing injuries
  • Severe chest trauma

Because commercial trucks carry so much weight, even lower-speed impacts can lead to deadly consequences. Investigating these crashes requires detailed work, including reviewing dash cam footage, checking braking systems, analyzing impact patterns, and evaluating whether drivers followed required safety rules.

Families affected by deadly crashes often face overwhelming challenges—grief, medical bills, funeral costs, and the sudden loss of a loved one.

Kentucky law allows families to pursue compensation when negligence leads to a wrongful death. Compensation may include funeral expenses, lost income, medical costs, and emotional suffering. Speaking with a skilled wrongful death attorney can help families understand what steps to take after a deadly truck crash.

When commercial vehicles are involved, trucking companies and insurers may act quickly to protect their own interests. Families should seek support as early as possible to ensure important evidence remains preserved.
