Bracken County, KY (December 9, 2025) - A deadly multi-vehicle crash on AA Highway in Bracken County left one person dead and several others critically hurt on Monday, December 8. Kentucky State Police said the wreck happened around 8:00 a.m. when a box truck traveling southbound lost control. The truck crossed the median and slammed into a pickup truck coming the other way.

The driver of the pickup died at the scene. Four other people riding in that pickup suffered serious injuries. Emergency crews rushed them to the hospital, and three of them went to the University of Kentucky Medical Center with life-threatening injuries. The fourth passenger also needed hospital care. The box truck driver also suffered injuries, though officials have not shared how severe those injuries are.

Kentucky State Police said five more vehicles became involved after the first impact. That brought the total to seven vehicles in the crash. Responders worked for hours to help victims, clear the roadway, and document the scene.

Investigators continue to review evidence and will release more findings as the case develops.

Our sincere condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim. We also hope those hurt make a fast recovery.

Truck Accidents in Kentucky1 Killed, 3 Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash on AA Hwy

A crash involving a box truck can flip a family’s life upside down in minutes. On busy highways, trucks move fast and carry heavy loads. When they lose control, the force can crush smaller vehicles and cause fatal or critical injuries. After a wreck like this, victims and families often face long recoveries, lost income, and sudden costs they never planned for.

In Kentucky, people harmed in a truck collision may have the right to seek compensation when another party’s negligence played a role. A claim may involve the truck driver, the trucking company, or other responsible groups. The goal is to help victims rebuild and cover the losses tied directly to the crash.

Possible compensation may include:

  • Medical costs now and in the future. This can cover ambulance care, emergency treatment, surgery, hospital stays, rehab, medications, and long-term support.
  • Lost income. If injuries keep someone from working, a claim can include missed paychecks and future earning limits.
  • Pain and suffering. Serious injuries often bring lasting pain, emotional distress, and big changes to daily life.
  • Disability or disfigurement impacts. Permanent injuries may require home changes, mobility equipment, and ongoing care.
  • Property damage. Families may recover costs to repair or replace vehicles and personal items destroyed in the crash.
  • Wrongful death damages. When a loved one dies, surviving relatives may seek funeral expenses, lost financial support, and the loss of care and companionship.

A wrongful death lawyer can help families understand which damages fit their situation and how to prove them. These cases often need fast evidence work, including truck logs, maintenance records, crash reconstruction, and weather data. An attorney also knows how to handle insurers that may try to shift blame or reduce payouts.
