Louisville, KY (October 22, 2025) – Four people were injured Monday evening, October 20, after an ambulance collided with another vehicle and crashed into a Jefferson County Public Schools building in downtown Louisville.

According to the Louisville Metro Police Department, the crash occurred around 5:00 p.m. near the intersection of Muhammad Ali Boulevard. Investigators say a vehicle traveling west entered the intersection and struck the ambulance, forcing it off the roadway and into the J. Graham Brown School building.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene and found multiple people injured, including an EMS crew member, a patient inside the ambulance, a pedestrian on the sidewalk, and a person in the other vehicle. Paramedics transported all four to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, no students or staff inside the building were hurt during the crash.

Police temporarily closed the area to clear debris and assess structural damage to the school. The Louisville Fire Department inspected the scene to ensure the building was safe before reopening the roadway. The crash remains under investigation as officials work to determine the exact cause.

Our thoughts are with those injured in this incident, and we wish them all a speedy and complete recovery.

Crashes like this one highlight how quickly everyday commutes can turn dangerous. Busy intersections throughout Louisville often experience high traffic volumes, making collisions involving emergency and commercial vehicles more likely. When large vehicles such as ambulances, fire trucks, or delivery trucks are involved in a traffic accident, the results can be severe due to their weight and speed.
