Somerset, KY (June 11, 2026) – A serious collision that involved a motorcycle and an SUV took place on Clifty Hill Road near Wilson Road in Pulaski County on Wednesday, June 10. As a result of the collision, a Somerset man died and a woman was injured. Kentucky State Police said the crash happened around 6 p.m.

According to officials, Nathan Grider, 34, of Somerset, was riding a motorcycle south on Clifty Hill Road when he allegedly struck the front passenger side of a Volkswagen Atlas. The SUV driver, Shelby Crawford, 32, had been heading north and was turning left onto Wilson Road at the time.

Grider was taken to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Crawford was also hospitalized and has since been released.

State police noted that drugs and alcohol were not believed to have played a role, though a toxicology test is still pending. The crash remains under active investigation.

We extend our deepest condolences to Nathan Grider's family and hope Shelby Crawford gets a full recovery.

What Evidence Matters Most After a Serious Crash in Somerset, KY?One Dead, One Hurt in Motorcycle Crash on Clifty Hill Rd in Somerset, KY

After a serious crash in Somerset, the evidence collected in the hours and days that follow can make a significant difference in any legal claim. Physical evidence from the scene can help establish how a collision unfolded; this includes skid marks, debris fields, vehicle damage patterns, and road conditions. Photographs taken at the scene, witness statements, and dashcam footage are among the most valuable materials an attorney will look for early in a case.

Pulaski County roads like Clifty Hill Road, US-27, and KY-80 carry a mix of passenger vehicles and motorcycles, particularly during warmer months. Intersections along these corridors are common settings for left-turn crashes, where a turning driver and an oncoming rider can meet with little warning.

In these cases, speed, sight lines, and timing all become relevant, and the physical record left behind at the crash site frequently tells a story that witness accounts alone cannot. A personal injury attorney can help identify what evidence is still available and what steps may need to be taken before that evidence is lost or altered.

Injuries from serious collisions tend to be severe. Victims may face traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, broken bones or internal trauma. Medical records that document the nature and progression of those injuries are a critical part of any claim. Prompt medical evaluation and consistent follow-up care helps establish a clear connection between the crash and the harm suffered.
