Trimble County, KY (June 17, 2026) – A man was killed and four others, among them three children, were seriously hurt Tuesday morning, June 16, after a two-vehicle crash on US-421 in Trimble County.

Kentucky State Police say a Volvo crossed left of center around 9:46 a.m. and struck a Ford Ranger head-on. The Ranger's driver, 39-year-old David Logan of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Trimble County coroner.

The Volvo's driver and the three children who were in that vehicle suffered serious injuries and were airlifted to hospitals in Louisville for treatment.

What caused the Volvo to cross into oncoming traffic has not been determined. Kentucky State Police continue to investigate the accident.

We offer our deepest condolences to the family of David Logan, and we hope the four people wounded make full recoveries.

Can Families Seek Compensation After a Wrong-Way Fatal Crash in Trimble County, KY?Volvo Driver, 3 Children Hurt in Fatal Crash on US-421 in Trimble Co., KY

When a driver crosses the center line and causes a fatal head-on collision, Kentucky law may allow the surviving family of the person killed to pursue a wrongful death claim. That claim can seek compensation for funeral and burial costs, pre-death medical expenses, lost future income, and the loss of the companionship and support the deceased provided.

In Kentucky, wrongful death actions must generally be filed within one year of the date of death. This is a shorter window than many people expect, and it makes early legal consultation important.

Survivors of head-on crashes frequently face long recoveries. Serious injuries in this type of wreck commonly include traumatic brain injuries, spinal damage, broken bones, and internal trauma. Children that are involved in high-impact collisions may require extended medical care and ongoing rehabilitation.

Under Kentucky law, a wrongful death claim can be filed by the personal representative of the deceased's estate, which is typically a spouse, parent, or adult child. If no representative has been appointed, the court can designate one. A wrongful death lawyer can guide the family through this process, helping identify who is legally entitled to bring the claim, what damages may be recoverable, and how to handle negotiations with insurance carriers who often move quickly to limit their exposure after a fatal crash.
