Graves County, KY (March 25, 2026) – A 19-year-old mother and her infant son lost their lives in a house fire reported early Monday, March 23, in Graves County.

Authorities received a call just after 1 a.m. about a fire at a home in the 5300 block of Central Road. The caller reported that five people were inside the house at the time and could not all get out safely.

Emergency units arrived soon after and found that three people had made it outside. Two others remained trapped upstairs as the fire spread through the home. Crews attempted to reach them, but intense flames blocked entry.

Firefighters worked for several hours to control the blaze. After putting out the fire, officials located the victims inside the home. Authorities identified them as 19-year-old Arianna Teems and her 8-month-old son, Cole Walker.

Investigators have not yet determined what caused the fire. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.

We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss.

Who Can File a Wrongful Death Claim After a Fatal Fire in Kentucky?19-Year-Old Mother and Infant Killed in House Fire on Central Rd

In Kentucky, a personal representative of the deceased person’s estate can file a wrongful death claim. This individual often acts on behalf of surviving family members, such as parents or children, depending on the situation. The law outlines who may benefit from any claim and how compensation may be distributed.

Fatal fires often leave families facing sudden financial and legal questions. Costs may include funeral expenses, medical bills, and loss of financial support. These cases can also involve property issues, insurance claims, and fire investigations that take time to complete.

In many situations, determining liability requires a careful review of the cause of the fire. Factors such as electrical issues, heating systems, or structural conditions may play a role. Documentation like fire reports, witness statements, and property records can help clarify what happened and support a claim.

A wrongful death attorney can help families understand how Kentucky laws apply to their situation. Legal guidance may include reviewing evidence, handling communication with insurers, and explaining what types of compensation may be available. An attorney can also assist with filing deadlines and required legal steps.
