Hopkinsville, KY (March 9, 2026) – One person died after a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Saturday evening, March 7, in Christian County. The accident occurred along Fort Campbell Boulevard in Hopkinsville.

Authorities said the collision happened when a tractor-trailer attempted to turn across traffic on the roadway. Emergency units responded to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash involving a large commercial truck and a passenger vehicle.

Investigators reported that a tractor-trailer driven by Gerasimos Livieratos, 36, of Chicago, Illinois, traveled southbound on Fort Campbell Boulevard. The driver attempted to make a U-turn in order to head northbound.

During the maneuver, the tractor-trailer collided with a northbound car driven by Bernice Franklin, 33. The impact caused the smaller vehicle to become trapped underneath the tractor-trailer.

First responders worked to remove Franklin from the wreckage. Paramedics transported him to Jennie Stuart Health Hospital for emergency treatment. Despite medical efforts, Franklin later died from his injuries at the hospital. Officials confirmed his death after the crash investigation began.

Authorities arrested Livieratos after reviewing the incident. Investigators filed several charges, including failure to yield or improper signal, improper turning, DUI, possession of marijuana, reckless driving, and vehicular homicide while under the influence of drugs.

Investigators continue to review the circumstances surrounding the crash.

We extend our sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the victim during this difficult time.

How Long Families Have to File a Wrongful Death Lawsuit in KentuckyOne Killed in Tractor-Trailer Crash on Fort Campbell Blvd

In Kentucky, families generally have one year to file a wrongful death lawsuit after a person dies in an accident. This time limit is known as the statute of limitations. It usually begins on the date a personal representative is appointed for the deceased person’s estate.

Wrongful death claims allow families to seek compensation when a person dies because of another party’s actions. These cases often involve fatal car accidents, truck collisions, or other serious incidents. A wrongful death claim may address expenses such as medical bills, funeral costs, and financial losses related to the death.

Understanding the timeline is important because courts often dismiss claims filed after the legal deadline passes. Families may need time to gather documents such as medical records, accident reports, and other evidence connected to the crash. These records can help clarify what happened and how the incident affected the family.

Wrongful death claims may also involve communication with insurance companies and other parties connected to the accident. Insurance providers often review crash reports, witness statements, and medical documentation while evaluating claims. This process can take time, which is why early preparation can help families understand their options.

A Hopkinsville wrongful death lawyer can review available records and explain how Kentucky law applies to a specific situation. Legal guidance may help families understand the claim process, timelines, and what types of compensation may be available under state law. Attorneys often review accident evidence and help organize the information needed to move forward with a claim.
