Lebanon, KY (April 29, 2026) – A deadly two-vehicle crash on Monday morning, April 27, in Marion County left two people dead and two others hurt. The accident happened just before 5 a.m. along US 68 (Danville Hwy), outside Lebanon.
A 2018 Toyota Camry, driven by Mahalia Brown, 43, of Magnolia, Mississippi, was heading west on US 68 when it crossed the centerline and entered the eastbound lane. The car moved directly into the path of a 2018 Kenworth dump truck traveling east, driven by Christopher Perkins, 49, of Campbellsville. Perkins braked and steered in an attempt to avoid the crash, but the two vehicles collided head-on.
Brown and a passenger in her car, Benjamin Thompson, 20, also of Magnolia, Mississippi, were both pronounced dead at the scene. The Marion County Coroner confirmed both deaths.
A second passenger in Brown's vehicle, Darian Thompson, 22, of Magnolia, Mississippi, suffered serious injuries in the collision. Emergency units transported him to Spring View Hospital in Lebanon for treatment. Perkins was also taken to Spring View Hospital with minor injuries.
Authorities continue to investigate the crash.
We extend our sincere condolences to the families of Mahalia Brown and Benjamin Thompson, and our thoughts remain with Darian Thompson and Christopher Perkins as they recover.

In Kentucky, non-economic damages refer to compensation for losses that don't carry a direct price tag. These include pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of companionship — often referred to as "loss of consortium." In fatal accident cases, surviving family members may be eligible to seek these damages through a wrongful death claim filed on behalf of the deceased.
Unlike medical bills or lost wages, non-economic damages are harder to calculate because they reflect the human impact of a loss rather than a financial one. Kentucky law allows courts and juries to consider factors like the relationship between the survivor and the deceased, the age of the victim, and the circumstances of the death.
Kentucky's wrongful death statute allows the personal representative of the deceased's estate to pursue a claim on behalf of surviving family members. Recoverable non-economic damages may include loss of companionship, loss of parental guidance for surviving children, and the grief experienced by close relatives.
There is no fixed formula for calculating these amounts, and outcomes vary depending on the specific facts of each case. Understanding what types of damages may apply to a fatal accident case can be difficult without legal guidance from a wrongful death lawyer.
