Lexington, KY (January 6, 2026) – A child suffered injuries on Tuesday, January 6, after a pedestrian crash in Lexington, according to local authorities. The incident occurred around 8:00 a.m. near the intersection of Harrodsburg Road and Blue Ash Drive.

LexWrecks first shared information about the crash on social media, reporting that a pedestrian was struck in the area. Police officers and emergency crews responded quickly to the scene. Authorities temporarily closed all lanes near the intersection while first responders assisted the injured child and secured the area.

The Lexington Police Department later confirmed that the crash involved a passenger vehicle and a young pedestrian. Paramedics transported the child to a local hospital for treatment. Officials described the injuries as non-life-threatening, but they did not release further details about the child’s condition.

By mid-morning, police reopened all lanes of traffic in the area. Just before 10:00 a.m., Fayette County Public Schools stated that the injured child was a student within the district. School officials said they were coordinating with law enforcement and medical teams while focusing on supporting the student and their family during recovery.

Investigators with the Lexington Police Department’s Traffic Section continue reviewing the incident. The investigation remains active.

Our thoughts are with the injured child, and we hope for a smooth and full recovery.

Pedestrian Accidents Involving Children in LexingtonChild Injured in Pedestrian Accident at Harrodsburg Rd & Blue Ash Dr

Pedestrian accidents in Lexington and across Kentucky frequently occur near schools, residential areas, and busy intersections. Children face higher risks because they may have difficulty judging vehicle speed or navigating traffic safely. Morning hours often bring heavier traffic as commuters and school transportation share the road.

Even when injuries are not life-threatening, pedestrian crashes can result in broken bones, head injuries, or emotional trauma. Recovery may involve medical visits, missed school time, and added stress for families. In many cases, parents must adjust work schedules to provide care and support during healing.

When a child suffers injuries in a pedestrian accident, families often have questions about medical costs, accountability, and long-term needs. Claims connected to a pedestrian accident may involve driver behavior, road design, or visibility issues. Documentation from police reports and medical providers often plays an important role.

Many families speak with a Lexington personal injury lawyer to better understand their rights after a child is injured. An attorney can explain how injury claims work and what steps may help protect a family’s interests. These cases often focus on covering medical expenses, future care needs, and the impact on a child’s daily life.
