After a serious head-on collision in Bracken County, the people affected may be eligible to seek two broad categories of damages: economic and non-economic. Economic damages cover measurable financial losses. This includes medical bills, follow-up care, rehabilitation costs, lost wages during recovery, and loss of future earning capacity if injuries prevent a return to work. Non-economic damages address losses that are harder to quantify, such as pain and suffering, emotional distress, and loss of enjoyment of life.
In Kentucky, the statute of limitations for personal injury claims is generally two years from the date of the crash. If you miss that deadline, it typically means losing the right to seek compensation through the courts entirely, regardless of how strong the underlying claim may be.
Evidence gathered in the aftermath of a serious crash can make a significant difference in how a claim is evaluated. Useful documentation includes photographs of the vehicles and road, the official crash report, medical records, witness contact information, and any available traffic or surveillance footage from nearby properties.
A car accident attorney can help surviving victims understand what damages may apply to their specific situation. Legal guidance can clarify how Kentucky law treats each category of loss and what documentation may be needed to support a claim.
