Owensboro, KY (February 13, 2026) – A head-on crash at the intersection of KY 81 and Park Drive left multiple people with serious injuries on Thursday, February 12, in the Friendly Village area.
Dispatch received reports of an injury accident around 5:09 p.m. Deputies and emergency crews arrived and found two vehicles with severe front-end damage. Investigators said a pickup truck exited the Even Steven’s parking lot and attempted to head south on KY 81. The truck entered the path of a northbound passenger car traveling at highway speed.
The driver of the car tried to swerve to avoid the collision, but the vehicles struck head-on. The pickup truck driver suffered minor injuries and received treatment at the scene. Firefighters removed the driver and a passenger from the car using mechanical tools.
Both people traveling in the car suffered multiple serious injuries, including broken bones, and paramedics transported them to Owensboro Health Regional Hospital.
Crews closed KY 81 in both directions for about an hour and a half while they cleared the scene. Investigators from the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office Accident Reconstruction Unit continue to review the crash.
We extend our sincere wishes for recovery to those seriously injured.

After an injury accident in Kentucky, you should make sure you have and get a copy of the following evidence and documents: medical records, police reports, photographs, witness information, repair estimates, and proof of lost wages.
This documentation supports your insurance claim and helps protect your legal options. Clear records create a timeline that connects injuries and expenses directly to the crash.
Start with medical documentation. Keep copies of emergency room records, hospital discharge papers, imaging results, prescriptions, and physical therapy notes. These documents show how the accident affected your health.
They also outline the severity of injuries and the treatment required. Without medical proof, insurers may question the link between the collision and the injury.
Next, obtain a copy of the official crash report. Law enforcement documents key facts, including location, time, statements, and visible damage. This report often becomes an important reference in insurance discussions and potential legal action. You should also save contact details for witnesses who saw the accident.
Photographs and videos matter. Take pictures of vehicle damage, road conditions, traffic signs, and visible injuries as soon as possible. Capture different angles to show the full scene. Visual evidence can help explain how the crash occurred.
Financial documentation also plays a major role. Keep repair estimates, towing bills, rental car receipts, and any invoices tied to the accident. If injuries prevent you from working, collect pay stubs and employer statements that confirm missed wages. These records help calculate potential compensation.
Kentucky follows a “choice no-fault” insurance system. This means certain benefits may apply regardless of fault, but documentation still determines the scope of recovery. Organized records strengthen your position during insurance negotiations.
An Owensboro personal injury attorney can review your documents and explain how Kentucky law applies to your case. Legal guidance can clarify deadlines, coverage limits, and what types of compensation may be available.
