Murray, KY (June 5, 2026) – Two people lost their lives on Thursday, June 4, following a collision at the intersection of KY 80 and Brinn Road in Murray.
Emergency units were called to the intersection at about 5:30 p.m. A preliminary investigation indicated that a Ford Fusion was traveling south on Brinn Rd and attempted to cross KY 80 after stopping in the median.
According to initial information, the car then moved into the path of an eastbound GMC Sierra HD Denali pickup truck that was pulling an occupied horse trailer.
The pickup struck the Fusion, and both vehicles left the roadway before stopping in a grassy section near the southeast corner of the intersection. The driver and front-seat passenger in the car died from their injuries.
A child who was inside the Fusion survived without harm and was safely removed from the vehicle. The truck driver was not injured. One of the two horses in the trailer received a leg injury and was expected to recover. The people involved had not been publicly identified at the time of publication.
Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances surrounding the wreck and may release additional information later.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends mourning these losses.
