30 Workers Evaluated After Chemical Exposure at Facility in Franklin Co., KY

Franklin County, KY (May 21, 2026) – A chemical exposure accident at a facility in Franklin County hospitalized 30 workers on Wednesday, May 20. The Franklin County Fire Department said a product became aerosolized inside the building, causing exposure-related symptoms among employees.

Six workers initially reported symptoms, including difficulty breathing. As responders assessed those present, the number showing symptoms climbed to 30. Emergency units separated those affected from those who were not showing signs of exposure.

The building had already been evacuated by the time responders arrived. Crews identified the chemical involved, isolated the affected area, and confirmed no further contamination occurred.
