McCracken Co., KY (January 23, 2026) – On Wednesday morning, January 21, a two-vehicle traffic accident left a Benton woman dead and two others injured at the intersection of Oaks Road and Shemwell Lane in McCracken County.
According to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, a vehicle driven by 42-year-old Amanda Beck of Paducah was traveling southbound on Oaks Road. While negotiating a sweeping curve, Beck’s vehicle encountered ice on the roadway, spun, and crossed into the opposing lane.
A second vehicle, operated by 57-year-old Alicia Andersson of Benton, was traveling northbound on Oaks Road when it was struck and overturned. Andersson was initially taken to a local hospital and later died en route to an out-of-state medical facility. Beck and a 14-year-old passenger were transported to a local hospital, with the passenger subsequently moved to an out-of-state hospital for further treatment.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
