Fatal crashes can leave families dealing with sudden financial and practical challenges. Costs may include medical bills before death, funeral expenses, and loss of income. Kentucky law outlines who may file a claim and how damages may be calculated based on the circumstances.
In many cases, a personal representative of the estate files the wrongful death claim on behalf of surviving family members. Courts may review factors such as financial losses and the impact of the loss on the family. Keeping records and documentation can help provide a clearer picture of these effects.
A wrongful death lawyer can help families understand how wrongful death laws apply in Kentucky. This may include gathering records, communicating with insurance companies, and explaining what types of compensation may be available. Legal guidance can help clarify each step of the process.
