Meade County, KY (May 29, 2026) – One man was killed and three others, including two kids, were seriously hurt Thursday afternoon, May 28, after a head-on collision on Bypass Road near High Street in Meade County. Kentucky State Police responded to the crash around 3:27 p.m.
Investigators said 34-year-old Dustin Brian of Central, Indiana, was driving north on Bypass Road when his vehicle crossed into the center turn lane and into the path of an oncoming pickup truck. The two vehicles collided head-on. Brian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman driving the pickup was flown to UofL Hospital with serious injuries. The two juvenile passengers in her truck were also seriously hurt. One was taken to UofL Hospital and the other to Norton Children's Hospital.
The investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
We hope the woman and both kids make full recoveries, and we extend our condolences to the family of Dustin Brian.

When a driver crosses into oncoming traffic and causes a head-on crash, surviving victims and the families of those killed may have strong grounds to pursue compensation in Kentucky. The state follows a pure comparative fault system, meaning injured parties can recover damages even if they bear some degree of responsibility.
Kentucky's statute of limitations for personal injury claims is one of the shortest deadlines in the country. Kentucky gives victims generally one year from the date of the collision to file a claim, which makes it critical to consult an attorney without delay.
Survivors of serious crashes and the families of those killed face mounting medical bills, lost income, and long-term care needs that can persist for years. When juveniles are among those hurt, their claims carry additional considerations under Kentucky law, including tolling provisions that may extend certain deadlines for minor victims. A car accident attorney can identify all applicable timelines and make sure no filing window is missed.
