Woodford County, KY (December 23, 2025) - A fatal crash involving a semi-truck and another vehicle claimed one life on westbound Interstate 64 in Woodford County. The collision occurred on December 23, near mile marker 60, close to the Franklin County line and nearby rest areas.

Kentucky State Police responded to the scene after receiving reports of a serious crash. Investigators confirmed that the collision involved a semi-truck and a passenger vehicle. Emergency responders arrived quickly, but one person died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have not released the victim’s identity.

Police are investigating whether the semi-truck remained parked on the shoulder of the interstate when the crash occurred. Crews closed the right westbound lane for several hours while they worked the scene and cleared debris. Traffic backed up for miles during the response, though all lanes later reopened.

Kentucky State Police continue leading the investigation with assistance from local agencies.

Our deepest sympathies go out to the family of the person who lost their life in this tragic incident.

Truck Accidents in Kentucky Semi-Truck Crash on I-64 near MM 60 Claims 1 Life

Truck accidents in Kentucky often involve serious or fatal injuries, especially when crashes occur at highway speeds. Interstates serve as major freight routes, which increases the presence of large commercial vehicles alongside passenger traffic. When trucks stop on shoulders, the risk of severe collisions rises sharply.

Kentucky often sees cases involving limited truck parking, driver fatigue, and roadway safety issues. Semi-trucks require designated rest areas to comply with safety regulations, yet many highways lack sufficient space. This shortage may push drivers into unsafe parking decisions.

Fatal truck crashes may involve complex legal questions. Investigations often examine driver behavior, company policies, parking availability, and compliance with transportation laws. In cases involving loss of life, families may consider speaking with a wrongful death lawyer to understand their options.

A wrongful death lawyer can help families navigate claims involving truck accidents, especially when negligence or unsafe conditions contribute to a fatal crash. Compensation may address funeral expenses, lost income, and the emotional impact of losing a loved one. Each case depends on the facts uncovered during the investigation.
